The Dangers of Second Hand Smoke for the Asthmatic |
People with asthma that smoke runs the risk of severe asthma attacks and for the asthmatic that does not smoke second hand smoke can be dangerous. Second hand smoke can start the symptoms of a severe asthma attack that can require immediate medical care. Inhaling second hand smoke is bad for anyone, even a smoker, but is especially dangerous for the person that has asthma, and is said to be more dangerous for people inhaling it than the person that smokes. This is because tobacco contains chemicals like tar that is dangerous for the lungs, carbon monoxide and other harmful chemicals. The person or asthmatic that is in the same vicinity as the smoker inhales these chemicals, which can cause shortness of breath, wheezing and coughing. People with asthma should avoid being in an area where people are smoking and if they smoke should quit smoking for health reasons. Asthma can be severe and require hospitalization, since it is a disease that affects the lungs. |
