Why is it so Hard to Quit Smoking?

Former smokers may tell you that breaking this habit would be the toughest thing they have ever done in their lives. But that is just so true because nicotine is addictive and it is just so hard to get rid of things which your body have already get used to. Actually, there are two factors affecting why it is so hard to stop smoking; physical cravings and psychological cravings.

Physical Cravings

If you are used to holding a cigarette between your fingers everyday and that you will be looking for it every time you are physically tired, then you have physical cravings for smoking. Some would even call it as a lifestyle; they love to have their image associated with cigarettes. As you may have seen, some people wanted to have their informal photos taken with cigarette in one hand and beer on the other.  This state of mind is easier to beat than the one that follows.

Psychological Cravings
There are people who are stressed out and depend on smoking to take away the stress. These are the ones who have psychological cravings for smoking and they cannot just let the day pass without actually having a smoke to make them feel better. Soldiers who are at war are the best examples for the people who have psychological cravings for smoking. Problematic people are also susceptible for this state of mind which is more difficult to get rid of.
